One common misconception about CFO

One common misconception is that Leaders don't need to know about finance.

That they can fully rely on their CFOs.

Yes sure. CFOs guide, crucially. But don't mistake their expertise for yours.

CEOs need a broad understanding of all aspects of their business, especially finance, to excel.

The truth is : not speaking the language of finance puts you at a disadvantage.

You should have enough financial literacy to make informed decisions.

Financial literacy will help you make sharper strategies and move your company confidently forward.

Now look, I am not saying you should become a financial expert overnight.

But total financial delegation to your CFO could make you miss several things such as :

  • A more confident communication of performance to stakeholders, employees and the media

  • Innovative strategies for smarter investment and growth

  • Realistic goals and expectations so better motivation and engagement

  • Effective risk management

Financial literacy isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.
